It all started when…

Dr. Jay S. Grossman was accepted to NYU College of Dentistry at the age of 19. After completing his education and residency, he joined the US Navy and completed a tour of duty as a Lieutenant during the Persian Gulf War in the Dental Corp. where he received the National Defense Service Medal. In 1991, he was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran.

After the Department of Defense heard Dr. Grossman was treating homeless veterans out of his private practice, they asked him to be the face of their 2004 recruitment campaign and made Homeless Not Toothless an official 501©3.  Throughout his career, he has received letters of commendation from every level of government, from the LA mayor and state senators to Presidential Administrations, the Secretary of the Navy, and numerous members of Congress. Since 1991 he started his own practice in the Brentwood neighborhood of West LA and has been practicing there ever since.

As a dental expert, he has been involved in over 1,000 dental malpractice, peer review, and injury cases and is one of the most highly sought-after dental experts in the country.

He is a current Professor at UCLA School of Dentistry (1995-Present) and NYU College of Dentistry (2021-Present) and has also held a professorship at Western Dental School previously (2015-2019)

As the founder of the non-profit “Homeless Not Toothless,” he has made it possible for 124,000 thousand homeless veterans, survivors of domestic abuse, foster children, homeless LGBTQ+ youth, the elderly, and uninsured/underinsured to receive over $10 million in pro-bono dental care since its inception in 1991.

When he is not providing cutting-edge care to his patients, he enjoys fitness, cars, traveling, and spending time with his wife and 9 children.
